About the press

An alder is a riverside tree, and a fold is the crease down the middle of every picture book, where two pages meet.

That crease is where we spend our time. Alderfold Press is an independent publisher: we publish a few books, slowly, and we try to make each one worth reading for the fortieth time. Our first books are written under the pen name Mira Selden.
